So Much for Liberal Media Bias
I don’t know about you, but I am dismayed by the way the so-called liberal media has portrayed our Democratic candidates, the Presidential candidates in particular. Joe Biden secured a lot of legislative victories that I doubt anyone else could.
He raised the cutoff for overtime pay by $20,000/year after Obama’s attempt was all but scuttled by the court. He helped make available the first over-the-counter birth control pill during a period where reproductive rights were under assault. He encouraged the development of renewable energy sources to replace coal in the generation of electricity. Biden cracked down of junk fees and overdraft charges. He built an army of drones to counter China’s newly established military supremacy. He created incentives for farmers to get more climate conscious. President Biden prevented a cobalt crisis in the Congo and forged stronger alliance with Japan and South Korea to help counter China’s influence in the region. He passed and implemented the largest infrastructure spending bill in US history.
Since many of my readers are Democrats or liberals, I would guess many already knew about all or some of these accomplishments, but I could also assure you that most people are totally unaware of these achievements.
I have heard some of Biden’s successes mentioned briefly on the network nightly news shows. You know, down there with the human interest stories. Maybe between the cat the rides a tricycle or the child with an extra toe. Not up there with Taylor’s latest concert attendance or a celebrity wedding, but still mentioned just the same.
Of course over the same time period I have seen the video where Biden froze going offstage like a confused bunny at least twenty times and Biden slipping on the ramp to Air Force One at least as many times. If there is any footage where Biden comes across as a doddering old fool, it is headline material. His executive and legislative accomplishments, not so much.
Now that Kamala Harris is the nominee, the old codger approach is not viable. We will have to wait and see what approach the MSM comes up with next. Remember the evenings when Walter Cronkite read the news before signing off with “and that’s the way it is.” The news was always drain of profits. It was considered a cost of doing business on the public airwaves. Reagan’s FCC gutted the regulations barring editorializing and advocacy without providing alternate viewpoints.
The airwaves are no longer considered public domain. Bandwidth will soon be bought and sold like any commodity. Respectability and journalistic integrity take a distant second place to profitability. Your news is filtered according to your interests and purchasing habits.
If we want to see better news services we need to become better consumers or better critical thinkers
